DOT dragging its feet on Maspeth Bypass
In 2006, then-Department of Transportation Commissioner Iris Weinshall said her agency was committed to solving the problem of truck traffic on Grand Avenue, and would have something finalized by that summer. Two years later, a DOT spokesperson said the agency is working on a plan but adds that more studies are needed.

Thompson examining ways to compensate for 2007 flooding

Truck wheels stolen within minutes
On July 3rd of this month at 59-22 69th Lane in Maspeth at 2:45am I was awoken to the sounds of my truck alarm going off. I went downstairs to deactivate my alarm, and to look at my vehicle to find all the wheels in my truck gone and my truck balancing on two cinder blocks. All of this happening only two houses down from mine.
