Community Spotlight: Victoria Richardson, Principal St. Margaret's

The Saint Margaret Community happily welcomes, for the second year, Victoria Richardson as Principal at the Saint Margaret Catholic Academy. She was born and raised in Maspeth, and loved the area so much that she decided to never leave.

Ms. Richardson opened the academy last year as the principal after serving as Assistant Principal for two years. She has been part of the school's staff for over seven years as a special content teacher. In 2014, she assisted in the planning, designing and opening of the Repole Tech Center, an innovative tech center donated by alum, Mike Repole.

Education has played a significant role in her life, as she began teaching grades one and two at St. Thomas the Apostle soon after graduating from Queens College. A few years into her career, Ms. Richardson decided to take a leave of absence to raise her two daughters as full-time mom. During these years, she actively volunteered at the Sacred Heart Catholic Academy in Glendale, serving as a catechist. She also acted as a board-member of P.S./ I.S. 113's PTA and School Leadership Team. She was also co-owner of a small construction business with her late husband.

Though not teaching full-time in a classroom, Ms. Richardson was always dedicated to the mission of education. In her spare time, Ms. Richardson enjoys reading and spending time with her two daughters, Kyra, a freshman at Hamilton College and Jillian, a sophomore in the Carl Sagan Program at Forest Hills High School.
