The Sanitation Department was honored for its commitment to keeping the communities of Maspeth and Middle Village clean and an NYPD sergeant from the 104th Precinct was honored for keeping our neighborhoods safe at our last JPCA general membership meeting held on Thursday, April 26th, 2007.

Michael Bimonte, First Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Sanitation (above, top) and Vito Turso, Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Sanitation (above, bottom), received JPCA 2007 Community Service Awards for their individual service and on behalf of their department. Mr. Bimonte and Mr. Turso promised to continue to provide assistance with matters of concern.

School Sergeant Victor Crema also received a 2007 JPCA Community Service Award for his service to our communities by focusing on keeping our schools safe for our children to attend. Crema was nominated for the award by Captain Scott Shanley, who could not attend the meeting. Lt. Wellbrock presented the award to Crema.

JPCA 2nd Vice President Edward Kampermann was also honored for his dedication to the 9-11 flag banner program and for his commitment to making Middle Village and Maspeth great places to live. Mr. Kampermann thanked his wife, Jo Marie, for her support.

Joseph Lume was recognized for his scale model of Niederstein's and poster board showing the history of Middle Village that he completed for an Our Lady of Hope school project.

Thank you to all who received awards and attended our last meeting. We look forward to presenting our JPCA 2006 Man of the Year Award at our next meeting on June 21st.
