Things That Are Dumb: Shady shelter ties exposed again

The Wall Street Journal on July 18 published an article regarding the City's investigation into Acacia Network, the homeless services provider that was running the program at the Holiday Inn Express in Maspeth. The focus is on undisclosed ties between Acacia and Sera Security, the latter of which was founded by board members of Acacia and receives millions of dollars of taxpayer money to provide security at city shelters. The article states, Homeless Services said it wasn't aware of the relationship between the non-profit and SERA until The Wall Street Journal inquired about the connection last month. The department said it also wasn't aware of Mr. (Raul) Russi's connection to SERA. This is interesting since all of this had been detailed in The shady history of Acacia Network by Charles Martellaro, published in the September 2016 edition of the Juniper Berry.
