Berry Bits: Safer Kosciuszko approaches

Comptroller Scott Stringer this summer criticized the lack of bike and pedestrian safety measures near the approaches to the Kosciuszko Bridge. In response, DOT Commissioner Polly Trottenberg stated in a letter, On the Queens side of the bridge, NYSDOT is still at work on some of the key infrastructure connections, particularly along Laurel Hill Boulevard. That street will eventually include a new parking protected bike lane. We will coordinate relevant on-street bike connections with the completion of that work starting with 43rd Street, which includes raised lanes, and 50th Avenue. Additional lanes will be also be coming to 47th Street, 48th Street, 56th Road and Rust Street. Work is expected to be completed next year.
