The US Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will be doling out $120M to replace lead water service lines in NYC, covering 7,300 lines. There are roughly 150,000 lead pipes that need replacement citywide. The amount covered by the funding is ~5%. It was estimated by the NYC DEP that $2B would be needed to cover every line that needs replacement with a replacement cost of $15K. It seems that we have senators and congress members who are dropping the ball on getting us the funding we need.
