Captain John W. O’Connor of the Glendale precinct Wednesday night informed the members of the Citizens Improvement Association of Evergreen that last Sunday he closed down the merry-go-rounds which have been in operation in the section for the past three months only to be reprimanded by Mayor Gaynor for so doing. The association was told that the mayor contends that as merry-go-rounds are at all the nearby resorts without any complaints the people of Ridgewood have no just reason to complain. The secretary of the association was instructed to inform the city executive that Ridgewood is not a pleasure resort and that as merry-go-rounds tend to attract an undesirable element who gather about them and insult women and girls they must go immediately. The fact that a permit has been issued to the proprietors of the carousels for one year astonished the members. With more vigor than ever they will strive to have these permits rescinded.
