Our 2nd Annual Juniper Park Halloween Festival held on October 19th was a great success. Over 400 local children had a wonderful time competing in the dance and costume contests, trick-or-treating, riding the hayride, listening to spooky-storyteller Catfish Jim, and having their faces painted (courtesy in part to the tireless Dorie Capace, from Assemblyman Michael Cohen’s office). The NYC Park’s Dept. was our cosponsor and thankfully provided their staff for Halloween-themed games as well as facepainting, a proficient D.J. and the hayride. The 104th Police precinct was also on hand, providing fingerprinting, comic books and McGruff the Crime Dog. We would like to thank Senator Serf Maltese, Congressman Anthony Weiner, City Councilman Dennis Gallagher and Assemblyman Michael Cohen for their donations. Local businesses Artis Drugs, Card Smart, Fun Stuff, Party City and The Sweet Shoppe are loyal contributors; please frequent the businesses that care for our community, without their contributions, these festivals would not be possible. The JPCA feels strongly that celebrations such as these make our community a finer place to live.
