The car meetups continued this summer unabated. In fact, they seemed to have gotten worse since last year. We had a BMW doing donuts outside Juniper Valley Park on Labor Day weekend while the cops were reassigned to J’Ouvert in Brooklyn and the US Open in Flushing Meadows. Meanwhile, the New York Post reported that strippers, drugs, and other lascivious behavior are now commonplace at the unauthorized music gatherings and the NYPD doesn’t have the manpower to stop them. It also doesn’t help when these sound systems and vehicles are confiscated, that judges order they be returned to their owners. The noise needs to be stopped before it starts. They are openly driving these vehicles with rooftop sound systems on highways and parking them on local streets, and if this is not illegal, it needs to be made so. It would also help if cameras were placed so that known gathering locations could be monitored remotely.
