Speaking of pot shops, the current rule for siting a legal shop requires a 1,000-foot buffer between the new one and any existing ones, but state officials said in August that they are looking to implement a “public convenience and advantage” waiver which would allow them to be sited closer together. The details are not finalized, but why do we need more of these shops closer together? The roll-out of this initiative has been an absolute disaster, yet NYS can always find ways to make things worse.
