It's sad that this needs to be explained, but the FDNY reports to the mayor. Eric Adams, and now Zohran Mamdani, are bought by anti-car lobbying groups, so their commissioners greenlight awful road designs which place obstructions in roads that hinder emergency response. Both mayors also wanted City of Yes to help their real estate buddies, therefore their FDNY Commissioners have endorsed battery farms near homes and schools as being "perfectly safe." ... When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.Great points
Cutouts are reliant on motorists doing the right thing (and delivery vehicles not using them). Waiting for DOT to implement cutouts is piling a bad answer on top of an ineffective plan. Here’s a suggestion: keep emergency vehicles OFF OF LOCAL SINGLE LANES. Emergency vehicles should travel in the express lanes on Queens Boulevard, and safely cut ACROSS the local lane when they reach their destination just like they would cut across oncoming lanes of express and local traffic if they were coming from the opposite direction. This is a matter of policy - no infrastructure changes are necessary to implement it immediately. It would be a bonus if emergency vehicles also had traffic signal controls to prevent traffic from continuing on the local lane, and possibly prevent cross traffic from proceeding as well, but that would require significant infrastructure upgrades on both traffic signals and emergency vehicles.
So refreshing hearing a politician speaking about things that matter/make sense, in his community, in an effort to make things better. COUNCILMAN WONG ROCKS!!! 💪🇺🇸💪
Glad to hear him addressing a very important safety issue. Keep up the good work.

We've poked fun at every mayor on the cover of the Juniper Berry but seem to have upset some people with this one. 🤣
At least he’s not selling hats, flags, and other merch plastered with his name. New Yorkers would never stand for that!
They left out skyrocketing property taxes.
Oh, for cryin out loud. I come here to read fairly intelligent discussions on a matter of subjects. Especially the IBX. This ain't it.
Saving snowballs in my freezer for when he shows up.
Best cover ever!
Bayside Hills, Queens
Nothing wrong with poking politicians. It's an American tradition.
At least he’s not taking money from his own country and lining he and his families pockets.
I’ve heard and somewhat agree that one inherent trait of NYers is that we hate our mayors. I suppose that’s true to a point. We’ll see how the new kid fares.
Thank all the Transplants who ruined NYC and voter for this poor excuse of a Mayor!!
You get what you vote for . Elections have there consequences 🤷♂️ Wake up Democrats
He is a Communist that want to raise tax and give it to illegals and its that simple

Anyone who takes the Queens Blvd subway lines will tell you that you can't get to Elmhurst Park in 30 minutes from Midtown now, but that's what we're being told by MTA. This presentation was given this afternoon. Big Real Estate really wants that Grand Avenue stop! ... See MoreSee Less
Okay. But what is a better alternative
I can take a video and post it on YouTube and Facebook for everyone to see that indeed it is impossible to accomplish in 30 minutes. Big real estate will have to deal with my bigger law firm.
It needs to connect to the LIRR to be viable. A station in Elmhurst around 70st and Queens blvd where IBX cross the LIRR would be the spot I mean most riders are going to want to go to Manhattan and how else would they get there on IBX . But even then not a great idea. I mean, the MTA stopped running the G train to Forest Hills years ago because they said ridership didnt warrant it. Im all for more transit but really, how many people from Woodside are traveling to East NY every day? Im sure someone does but hardly the numbers to justify IBX
69th Street's about the same walking or bus ride distance as coming up from QB.
IBX and Mamdani free busses dont make sense together . Busses should be free in the boroughs . almost all feed to subway trains , so u pay 2 fares when u use the bus .
fight this on environmental grounds. The MTA wont win. They have to destroy about 10,000 trees that occupy the rail line for one . What about the diesel fumes from the freight. Does the train rider smell theem or they get dipursed to the sides so you small it. Right now it goes straight up in the air
Many people will be discplaced. You wont get properly reimbursed by Eminent Domain when they take your house. Plus the noise .
its a $5.5 Billion dollar scam. Proctilcally no one will use it .The MTA could the money to better use . Its a political payoff to contractors imo. This cost affects the fares. Dont believe what they tell you
Trains need to stay out of the neighborhood. The number of people using wont justify the stations. Theyre looking to break up the neighborhood and get big business and corporations to buy land/homes and build up.
Gateway to Queens…. IMO
I’m not big real estate and I want the grand Ave stop!!!
typical NIMBY bullshit.

Our community is united.
Local elected officials, the Juniper Park Civic Association, the Middle Village Chamber of Commerce, the UFT - United Federation of Teachers, residents, and small businesses are pushing to move the 69th Place BESS site away from PS/IS 128 and nearby homes to a more appropriate location.
We’re not letting up. ⬇️ ... See MoreSee Less
I'm not saying battery storage in a residential area is a good idea but I think more effort should be given to explaining what these units entail. It's not a bunch of delivery guys charging their back market ebike batteries.

We aren't sure where PS255Q is, but we do know that we were included in the press release that was sent out yesterday about the battery farm by PS/IS128. If you want to read a really bad journalistic effort, then check out the latest from QNS' Patrick Stachniak, who also dropped the tidbit that the president of Middle Village Residents Association Paul Pogozelski for some reason met with Brill and NineDot last year when he was a city council candidate. qns.com/2026/02/bess-hysteria-middle-village-battery-energy-storage-facility/ ... See MoreSee Less
What's the inference being made here of these meetings, whether they occurred or not? That Paul is in someone's pocket? Sounds salacious without any proof.
PS255Q is a D75 school that shares the building with PS/IS128.
Middle Village Residents Association President Paul Pogozelski, who organized the latest protest, cited the same concerns parents brought to Addabbo, Wong and other electeds. Pogozelski is also concerned for noise pollution and noticed a distinct humming sound coming from the BESS located on Rust Street in Maspeth. Pogozelski met with Brill and NineDot last year, but requested a public meeting, which he said would be more beneficial for transparency, denying a second meeting in private.
“I don’t know where it is but I hate it” 😂
I guess civic associations are held to different journalistic standards than internet pundits. I wish someone would tell us the facts an refrain from overdramatic rhetoric.
Hmmmmm why did Paul Pogozelski meet PRIVATELY with Brill and NineDOT last year?!!!! Why??? That was just reveled! Just an FYI Paul did not cite concerns to any elected officials. They were aware and already working on it. Robert Holden and his entire staff was viciously working and protesting against this battery facility from day one. If you look closely at the picture of Holden and his protest, Paul is no where to be found. That is because he drove by, took a pic and kept going. He did not rally. Paul is only doing this because he is running for CB5! Paul thinks by trying to put ELECTED officials and their staff down on social media or point out the obvious and what they are already working on that he will look like a hero. Doesn't work that way. Everyone in the neighborhood is onto his antics and knows what he's about. FRAUD! That's why he didn't win the primary. I also laugh at the people who collaborate with Paul on social media and have no idea what they are mixing themselves in with.
