Today we learned there are people in this neighborhood who:
* claim to be opposed to a battery farm, yet: * think it's ok that a stop work order on the site was violated * blame a council staffer who was legally documenting the violation of said stop work order for being assaulted * defend a contractor that made a racist comment toward him.
Today, something very disturbing happened at the NineDot Energy BESS site in Middle Village. A staffer for CM Phil Wong was legally recording through a window in the fence, when a worker for the contractor rushed out to block him, made racist remarks and then tackled him.
Obviously the contractor has something to hide. What does the Mayors Office say?
The cat thing is definitely an ethnic slight. Is that contractor 11 or 12 years old? Geez
To start why would you try to stop someone from taking a photo of a work spot that has a viewing window?
They probably weren't supposed to be working. The aggression seems to come when this worker put his body in front of the viewing window.
Did he say he smelled cat ?
Non Union?
It’s too hot for this nonsense
Wong or Chow???
Get a drone a lot safer
Due to the heat all work around electric, gas and oil lines are to stop. If the contractor was following the mandate this wouldn’t of happened
Use a drone !!!
Curious, if there ever was a police response to this assault
Phaythe Ross
He's famous now
Wow…hiding something for sure.
David Rojas Then tell us.
If you don't handle the big business that are already taking advantage of the neighborhood and violating laws daily since 1933...ehat do you expect??? Other big businesses will want to come to the neighborhood because they know they can violate laws and NYPD will do nothing!
Get ICE to clean it up. Problem solved.
Shut it down. Worse place possible for it . . . right next to a school. A disaster waiting to happen 🤦♀️
You should have them arrested. By law, anything you can see from a public sidewalk, you can video. And yelling at you and by laying hands on you and pushing you away is both assault and battery.
It's disgusting that these bastards build this crap in a residential area and right next door to an animal hospital. Idiot mayor does care. Not a bit. His priorities are messed up. Thank you Mr wong.
When does the city stop this crap ?
When this POS city pushes residents too far , this is what will happen and needs to happen! You can’t resolve shit by talking! We need to take physical action!
If this company is fine with hiring workers that violate stop work orders, imagine what else they will do
Councilman. Push to sue no?
FIND EM' FIRE EM' I CAN SMELL THE LONG ISLAND ON EM THRU THE SCREEN
Disgusting on so many levels. Racism and racist slurs are never acceptable. Shame on NineDot Energy!
Have you asked the mayor about this? I would really like to know what he says- on the record.
Are they building the battery plant? What’s going on?
What fell out of his hand?
You can't stop them I remember the homeless shelter on Cooper the land was contaminated from paint it was a cabinet factory for years, they wouldn't allow it to be a school for that reason but he had a few years later some palms are greased and no matter what the neighborhood did got lawyers put a stop to it and DiBlasio got it done for his friends with money 🤑💰 Good Luck
Is it being built Union though?
This is what happens all over. Reason you shouldn’t live in the same areas for lifetimes unless you must.
Areas change for the worse over time it’s the reality of it. Espeically areas near commercial areas and major roads and highways.
A proposed NineDot Energy lithium-ion battery storage facility at 64-30 69th Place is facing intense community opposition. The site is directly across from P.S./I.S. 128 and near local daycares and an animal hospital, sparking major safety and transparency concerns. The placement of the proposed energy storage system has galvanized Middle Village residents and local leaders, who argue the industrial site is too close to sensitive community spaces like schools. Here are the key details regarding the ongoing issue:The Proposal: NineDot Energy filed permits to build the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on a vacant lot, citing its ability to support the strained local electrical grid.Community Pushback: Parents, educators, and the Middle Village Residents Association have held several rallies demanding the project be moved to industrial zones. Locals have voiced fears of potential fires, explosions, and toxic smoke near the school.Local Leadership: City Council Member Phil Wong and State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. have expressed concerns about the location and have demanded transparent communication from the NYC Department of Education and NineDot Energy regarding parent outreach.Company Response: NineDot Energy has stated that they follow FDNY safety standards, which include 24-hour monitoring and fire-rated walls. However, local leaders continue to urge the company to find a less densely populated alternate location on the Brooklyn-Queens border.
These guys stoped it for today ! 👏
They never heard us. They were doing it regardless
Why don't people go there to support him too
Thank you for fighting for the safety of our neighborhood.
What's going on
The police need to be called
So you're not going to give full details on what's going on
Is this next to the vet?
Doing extra smh 🤦 report and move on
They should make a tv sitcom with these guys
Where exactly is this?
Yes
Good job Mr.Wong
Call 311 and report a building violation. They will issue a stop work order but it's temporary.
It's incredibly irresponsible to affix a sticker to the window of a car that needs to be moved. Causing a visual obstruction is dangerous for everyone - the driver, passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, and other motorists. It also violates due process. You can fight and win against a ticket. ... Any proof they put it on the windshield/driver side?
Could always roll the window down 🙄
ex TransAlt, Sanitation, if you want to be considered anything other than a joke
Could Department of Sanitation do their job and fix sink holes around storm drain. Multiple complaints filed several months ago.
They need to put stickers, give tickets and get rid of all the goddam double parkers who are at 80th street and Eliot Ave especially the cops!!! Busses cant pull in and causes traffic stand still and dangerous for pedestrians just because people are too lazy to oark and walk a block or put money in the meter. Double parking and parking in a bus stop are ILLEGAL dammit!!!!!!!!
