Caldwell Avenue remained closed today. You’d think a tree blocking a well traveled road would be a priority for removal.
I get the frustration for the delay - but is it any different than Queens waiting for snow removal under John Vleet Lindsay sixty years ago? Apparently Queens still doesn't rate. But having moved to Houston to work for a NASA contractor decades ago, I have to tell you it is so weird to see a community waiting around for government to come remove the tree. It came as a shock to me when I first saw it happening here after hurricanes or tornados, but down here expectations also run pretty low about when help will arrive so neighbors would have gathered together, dragged out their chainsaws and had the firewood stacked within 24 hours if not sooner.
How many vehicles are under that tree? Were there any homes damaged by that tree?

Ha ha! I am just happy it did not land on my house! They couldn’t do anything yesterday a car needed to be moved to avoid additional damage. They are on it.

That well traveled road has nothing but ppl going way above the speed limit going thru it. I say put in speed humps
There’s a tree with large broken branches inside of it that may fall and been waiting forever to get someone to take care of it. Parks even came by one day to take care of trees on the block and they skipped this one that really needed help and should’ve been a priority

Property owners and tax payers are posing the wrong question of the NYC Parks Forestry. The real question should be, why did the tree fail in the first place. I am observing that it was not the storm the drove tree failure but rather overwhelmingly are the one or more wood defects that drove whole tree and /or tree branche failures. We are told repeatedly by Parks, that street trees are all inspected for condition and risk. I ask who exactly is doing the inspecting that these defects are missed?

The Parks Dept. don’t care. Three weeks ago they came on my block, cut two trees down. They took some of the bark and branches but left alot too. Called them and asked them to come and remove, they said they can’t for two or three weeks:
