Surdi To Lead Spring Squad

The Midville Dodgers are pleased to announce the formation of a 12-and-under travel tournament team that will begin play this coming spring.

The team will be directed by Kevin K. Surdi (one of the Midville Dodgers’ original managers). His staff will consist of both former college coaches and professional players who will act as team consultants.

Surdi served as Midville’s Director of Player Personnel and managed several teams in the Dodgers organization. He is the founder of The New York Mets Baseball Academy and his program teaches thousand of players in the tri-state area. He personally trains many professional players and has traveled throughout the world conducting coaching clinics and implementing his unique curriculum of baseball training.

The purpose of this team is to develop young players into the Dodgers’ training protocol (farm system), to prepare them properly to play successfully at a high level of baseball.

The goal of the program is to expose these players to top-flight local area competition this year (tournaments) and then to compete throughout the U.S. next year.
The level of play will be very competitive and both parents and players must adhere to the training protocols and games schedules.

Tryouts

The Dodgers will conduct tryouts and workouts over the next few weeks at Juniper Valley Park. All players 12 and under (no player can turn 13 before Apr. 30) are invited to tryout. Selection of the team will be conducted by Surdi’s coaching staff.

The team will have 16–18 players and a taxi squad of five players.

Players are expected to tryout in full baseball uniforms. All players must participate in tryouts and then play an intra-squad game for evaluation purposes.

What’s needed

All players must complete a medical clearance form. A copy of the player’s birth certificate is required for participation.
Each player must pay a tryout fee. If a player makes the team, the tryout fee will be credited to his membership fee.

Players will be issued a complete professional uniform.
