In June, a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk was noticed by Mount Olivet Cemetery workers to be grounded near a puddle of water under a spigot there. The hawk did not attempt to fly when approached, which was a red flag. They called Tony Nunziato and he spoke with NYC Bird Alliance. They sent a rescuer named Bobby Horvath to retrieve the animal for rehabilitation. If you see an injured bird, especially a raptor, contact NYC Bird Alliance at injuredbird@nycbirdalliance.org and include a photo, a description of the problem and your contact information.
