There have been numerous complaints made to the JPCA about the shabby condition of the Juniper Valley Park handball courts. Handball/paddle ball is a very popular sport and it attracts people from surrounding areas because the overall condition of Juniper Valley Park is in such good shape. (Thank the volunteers, watch dogs, if you will, who make this all possible.)
The Parks Dept. is aware of this and should be doing something pretty quickly to have them repaired.
It makes no sense to have a spiffy park with all sorts of reconstruction going on and then leave a key activity like handball out there like a step child.
Accordingly we are asking Queens Parks Commissioner Richard Murphy to please step up and have the necessary repairs done. We believe there should be moneys available from other construction projects currently in progress.
