Behold the flooding I witnessed on my way home from work today. I was stuck on the bus in traffic for 20 minutes in Long Island City, and then when I arrived in Maspeth, there was a lake on Maurice Avenue! This is the 3rd time this has happened – first on July 18th, then August 8th, and today, October 11th, 2007.
As one resident reported:
“Nothing is as scary as a heavy rain in October!
Everybody is at their doors and windows, watching the rising water in the streets.”
NYC DOT seems to have designs on removing parking along Grand Avenue. Here are the choices they are giving us and 3 of the 4 options remove curbside parking:
How will anyone shop on Grand?
So much for supporting small businesses!
Leave our parking alone. WTF is wrong with you people?? You ruined the quality of life for everyone by creating these stupid bike and bus lanes, causing traffic and then blaming us for congestion. It’s time for a lawsuit.

Can we get more details about this attempted car jacking and shooting at juniper last week? Wasn’t reported anywhere except from the man’s mother on other neighborhood Facebook groups
