John J. Killcommons, 89, of Middle Village, New York, passed away peacefully on December 21st, 2023. He was born to John Killcommons and Senci Metzger in New York City on February 12, 1934. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Buoncore) Killcommons in 1958, and is survived by his sister, Florence Albrecht, and his children, Laurie Killcommons, Michael Killcommons, and Kelly (Killcommons) Werner, and his grandchildren, Nicole Werner, Jack Killcommons, Julia Killcommons, Katie Killcommons and Sarah Killcommons. John was predeceased by his eldest son, John (Jack) Killcommons, Jr., and his brother, Peter Killcommons.

John served in the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War veteran; he was a long-time FDNY fireman working at Ladder 128 company in Long Island City for over 35 years. John thoroughly enjoyed working part-time as Head Usher at the USTA US Tennis Association in Flushing Queens and at the NY Mets baseball homefield Shea Stadium for many years. He was Vice President of the Juniper Park Civic Association, dedicating his time and enthusiasm to parks and community affairs, and was known for his column “Killy’s Corner,” published in the Juniper Berry magazine. John graduated from Resurrection Ascension Elementary School and attended St. Francis Prep H.S. in Brooklyn and LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City.

There will be a wake on Tuesday, December 26th, at Leo F. Kearns Funeral Home from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM, and a funeral mass on Wednesday, December 27th, at Our Lady of Hope R.C. Church in Middle Village, Queens, at 10:45 AM, with burial to follow at Calvary cemetery.
