On February 25th, a demolition permit was reissued for St. Saviour's in Maspeth. On the 27th, workers began dismantling the parish hall addition at the rear of the church. On the 28th, the Department of Environmental Protection shut the site down for asbestos contamination.

On February 29th, JPCA held a protest at the site featuring speakers Councilman Tony Avella, Historic Districts Council President Paul Graziano, Secretary of the Society for the Architecture of the City Christabel Gough, Chair of the Committee to Save the RKO Keith's Theater Jerry Rotondi, Henry Euler of the Queens Preservation Council and Tony Nunziato, Chair of the Maspeth-Middle Village Task Force, and of course, members of the Juniper Park Civic Association. It was attended by 35 protesters, 6 police officers and the Queens press corps. No elected officials outside of Avella attended the rally.

On March 1st, asbestos remediation work was observed taking place on the property and is anticipated to continue until March 5th.

JPCA continues to work with elected officials and raise private funds in the hopes that the church still may be moved to All Faiths Cemetery.
