Call to order and Salute to the Flag was led by Sgt-At-Arms Patrick Trinchese
Opening remarks were made by President Tony Nunziato.
Christina Wilkinson provided an update on City of Yes. The legislation passed, and attendees were urged to donate to the Queens Civic Congress’ GoFundMe, the link is on junipercivic.com. She also invited the members to attend the last 2024 co-naming on 12/14 at 12 noon at 43 Street and 54 Avenue, Maspeth, in honor of NYPD Ptl. Joseph Rauchut. the afterparty will be held at Clinton Hall Palace.
Captain Karam Chowdhury, CO of the 104th Pct, provided the latest crime stats as well as tips on how to stay safe during the holidays. Sector C crime is down 7.4%, with a 4% rise in GLAs. Sector D crime is down 23%. There has been a rise in check washing in the 69 St- Grand Ave area. Summonses for illegal mopeds are up 315% from last year, with an increase of 225% in confiscations.
Council Member Robert Holden provided an update on legislation he is proposing, including license plates for all e-bikes.
Raimondo Graziano representing State Senator Joseph Addabbo and Dolma Lama representing Assembly Member Steven Raga provided updates on events each are hosting. Lama mentioned that the Q18 bus will not be removed from 69 Street as feared.
Christina Wilkinson explained that the NYC DOT is looking to speed up Q58/59 bus service along Grand Avenue and there is a presentation at the CB5 office by DOT on 12/17 at 7:30pm on the subject. They have 4 proposals and 3 remove parking along Grand, which will hurt businesses.
The annual holiday party and raffle took place at the conclusion of the business portion of the meeting with prizes solicited by board members and donated by local merchants.
