I had the opportunity to speak to Dr. Melania Napolitano, O.D. who is the owner of 20/20 Eye Care a new business on Eliot Avenue in Middle Village. Dr. Napolitano has a full-page ad in the Juniper Berry and when you see the ad it is quite complete, telling you everything you want to know about 20/20 Eye Care.
Dr. Napolitano specializes in comprehensive eye care including contact lenses. There is large variety of eyeglass choices at this Middle Village location and Dr. Napolitano said that she does free vision screening for seniors and children. She made it a point to state that 20/20 Eye Care takes all insurances.
Some of our friends have already visited 20/20 Eye Care for their eye examinations and all have reported what we already know. Dr. Napolitano is professional and personable and all report that her eye examination is about as thorough as it gets.
Dr. Napolitano gave me some of her background, which is a little different from the norm. She stated that she was born in NYC and moved to Italy at the age of 4. At the age of 16 she moved back to Middle Village and graduated from Grover Cleveland High School. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from SUNY in 2007. She is 35 years old and is fluent in Italian and Spanish. She also told me something about herself that is no surprise given her Italian heritage; in her spare time she loves to cook!
She, her sister, Rosa, who helps her at 20/20 Eye Care, and parents currently live in the Middle Village/Maspeth area and Dr. Napolitano stated that they all love the neighborhood and have been here for a long time.

There you have it. A new business in our community already doing well and we wish Dr. Melania Napolitano the best of luck as she embarks on her career in her hometown of Middle Village.
