You may recall that we posted a link to a study commissioned by the Dept of City Planning that CUNY graduate students did to identify development locations along the IBX. Critics claimed it was “just a student project”.

Now here we have the DOT commissioner using a Hunter College report to justify making life harder for car owners.

it’s true, though. with how expensive car ownership is in NY it is a luxury reserved for leafy suburb homeowners that are far out of step with (and far wealthier than) the average transit-riding renter.

There are to many cars on the road . If you ever notice on westbound LIE traffic there is 1 person per car . There should be some balance on the road . During the 1920-30s you could not park on NYC streets and had to park in lots . Its a car dominant transportation system that was created by Robert Moses . Maybe some more access to public transportation can balance out the way people travel .

So he should step down and let someone that understands the needs of new yorkers in

Going by car to midtown from Maspeth is usually little more than 15 minutes. By bus & subway, an hour, more if the Q67 doesn't show up at the half-hour time, as commonly happens.

This guy better not own a car and he better travel around the city by public transportation.

He should go fuck himself in plain English. And mandani too

"Interestingly, five of the districts the mayor named are directly touching the one major transportation project in the city that is in the works — IBX — a light rail line that will, hopefully, soon connect Bay Ridge in Brooklyn with Roosevelt Avenue in Queens. By the time it opens, some new housing projects along the route should be in the works." ... See MoreSee Less

It was originally explained, at least partially, that the IBX was “necessary”, based on the needs of the communities it would be passing through. Now, the introduction of affordable housing is presented as one of the prioritized “communities” being served. It is a circular argument. Affordable housing is being implemented to justify the IBX at the same time the IBX is being implemented to justify affordable housing.

It's going to mean more citi bikes less parking and yuppies taking over coffee will be $10

I mean realistically where they going to build more housing? The blinds for less parking lot? And also alont elliot Ave theres no space by the park maybe metropolitan Ave. But honestly I think its gonna be good alot of Asians will come in and scoop up the property. Queens is still more quiet than Brooklyn or Manhattan either way it'll be a while before the neighborhood goes to shit. Quiet today noisy tomorrow

Have to kill IBX before it kills Middle Village

I hope im out of this shit hole before its starts.

Going to kill. Queens. With this

Destroying NYC one block at a times

People to chose to live in. Neighborhoods for certain reasons. She wants to destroy it. Who the F is she? Vote her out next month!

Wake up Queens! This IBX is designed for one thing and one thing only, to create a socialist/leftist VOTING BLOC! The corrupt politicians who run city government want every young INDOCTRINATED COLLEGE TRANSPLANT (who are the only ones who believes in this socialist/communist ideology and are not born and breed New Yorkers) to infiltrate communities who are moderate/conservative and tear apart that way of voting which will solidify their agenda in controlling the votes in every community outside of the areas that are already been infiltrated! This is not some deranged individual that is typing this comment but someone who has their eyes open as to what is really happening! Please pass the word to friends and family that the definition of "GENTRIFICATION" Has always ment to displace the the people of a certain community to bring in the voting bloc which keeps politicians careers going for decades! This is definitely not about creating low income housing. IF it was designed for that purpose, why is every housing development going up always condos or rentals at market rate? Because you are being lied too! Teach your children or grandkids this fact so we will always have a resistance to tyranny!!

Our neighborhood was designed to be what it is...a bedroom community for families who want to have a suburban lifestyle while living in the city. Primarily houses, small yards, park space, schools with schoolyard. We dont need and can't handle more people shoehorned into our already tucked in space. Our schools are busting at the seams. This plan in NOT FOR US, but for investors who will profit from it. This will ruin our neighborly community by injecting massive amounts of people with different needs and expectations of of community. Personally, I feel this is a political move to imbalance the party line that exists here. Shame on all of you, using this rail line as an enticement, then showing that your true intentions were to upend our way of life.

So, these areas are being targeted by the government and developers who are working together. Hmmm. This all needs to be investigated NOW! Are people receiving money to destroy neighborhoods that don’t LOOK like what our mayor considers appealing? His opinions are very open. He and his team seem to think home ownership is racist. Is he going into “white” neighborhoods to get this done? Or should he go and revitalize a neighborhood that needs help?

You can't fight city hall. Or the MTA. or corrupt politicians. Or the broken system. Crime is rising. Homelessness is rising. Our taxes are rising. Our infrastructure is falling apart. But they are handing out these construction contracts left and right and destroying life for the hard working tax paying citizens who retired here after buying houses decades ago and now have no place else to go. I can't even go to the bank alone or take a walk around the park anymore. Very sad. I am a prisoner of the corruption and greed of ALL the parties and the elected officials.
