October 29, the Department of Design and Construction resumed work on the Penelope Avenue sewer project. The installation had been delayed due to the revelation that contaminated soil needed to be removed and that an additional $8M had to be allocated in order to do that. After the involvement of the comptroller’s office, the mayor released the money this summer. Construction is now expected to wrap up by the end of 2019.
