Forgotten New York, a website chronicling “the infrastructure of a lost metropolis,” in conjunction with JPCA, offered a tour of Elmhurst and Maspeth focusing on neighborhood history, culture and architecture on Sunday, November 19th, 2006. The group of 40 met at the token booth of the Grand Avenue-Newtown R subway station at 12:30pm. (This tour was originally scheduled for Sunday, November 12th, but was postponed due to anticipated inclement weather.)

We observed some of the architecture along Broadway and Queens Boulevard, then proceeded through Maspeth via Grand Avenue, stopping at more than 30 historical sites along the way.

Midway through the itinerary, the group was treated to refreshments and viewed an interesting collection of Maspeth artifacts at Enchanted Florist, courtesy of JPCA Executive Board Member Tony Nunziato.

All proceeds from the tour were donated to JPCA's St. Saviour's fund. The tour leaders were Kevin Walsh, author of the recently released Forgotten NY book and JPCA Historian and Forgotten-NY.com correspondent, Christina Wilkinson.
