Tuesday, July 17th – Blues Night – Shadetree Mechanics
It's been awhile since a band has come along that seems to really enjoy playing. When was the last time you saw a band having as much fun as the people watching them? Just such a band is Shadetree Mechanics. Named after an old ZZ Hill tune, these guys smoke!! The Shadetree Mechanics have been stirring up the music scene and making a name for themselves in the New York metropolitan area playing such venues as B.B. King's Blues Club, Manny's Car Wash, and the South Street Seaport.
Tuesday, July 24th – Swing Night – J.Walter Hawkes Quartet
Originally from Pascagoula, Mississippi, J. Walter Hawkes has been playing ukulele and trombone in NYC since 1995. He has played and/or recorded with such luminaries as Slide Hampton, Jon Hendricks, Bob Hope, The Temptations, Beth Orton, Macy Gray, Norah Jones, Madeleine Peyroux, Ray Charles and Lavay Smith, as well as playing and arranging for NYC's long-standing, jump-jazz-lounge sextet, Jet Set Six. His trio and quartet can be seen regularly at The Ear Inn, Cafe Steinhof and the LIC Bar amongst others.
Tuesday, July 31st – German Night – die Schlauberger (dSb)
dSb are the only band of their genre to perform a show and sing the American National Anthem in front of 50,000 fans at Shea Stadium, and have since been invited back on four more occasions. In May of 2001, they were designated the “Official Band” of the Bayern München/NYNJ Metrostar International Soccer Friendly at Giants Stadium headlining before 30,000 soccer fans. Jumping from state to state, dSb has built an incredible fan base. In July of 2005 dSb was involved in a movie shoot for the comedy Down In The Mouth with director/actor Kirby Ward.
