Brooklyn Eagle, Date: September 4, 1893 Boys playing in Hulse’s woods in Middle Village yesterday afternoon discovered the body of a man hanging to the limb of a tree. The limb on which the rope was tied before placing it around his neck was so close to the ground that the suicide had to draw up his legs and must have slowly strangled to death.

The man was about 5 foot 8 inches in height and weighed about 190 pounds. He wore dark clothes, the coat a Prince Albert, black derby hat, jumper and heavy shoes. The body is said to answer to the description given of a man named Walsh living in Brooklyn, whose wife was in Newtown last week looking for him. The body is now at
