Our three hometown Midville Dodgers teams all had fantastic seasons this past summer.

• Our youngest team (15 and under) won three championships. They broke a 55 year old Midville record by posting a fantastic 30-3 record and finishing in first place in the FABL.

They then proceeded to win Midville’s first Metro/NY Championship earning a trip to the AABC World Series in Oklahoma. But they weren’t finished, when they returned to NYC they put the icing on the cake by winning the 2004 FABL Playoffs. Coached by Middle Village own, Anthony Macchirole, the team appears to have many future Midville Dodger hall-of-famers.

• Our 16 year old team, after some early rough games, peaked at the right time and captured the L.I. Connie Mack Championship in dramatic fashion. On their march to the crown, longtime Midville Dodger hurler Andrew Kapela pitched a perfect game and belted two homeruns in a unbelievable playoff performance! Don Larsen has nothing on him.

The team was managed by another Middle Village resident, Bill Schindler.

• The Midville Dodgers Senior squad (ages 17-18) won the Titans Championship and finished in second place in the Bergen Beach College Division. Although the team was made up of high school seniors, they turned heads in the college ranks. Led by slugger Matt Rizzotti, (who was drafted by the Minnesota Twins) and slick fielding shortstop Vinny Johnson, the team was like an All-Star squad of high school seniors. Johnson set several Midville records in homeruns and RBI. Johnson led all Dodgers hitters and together with ace pitcher Kevin Conlin and Rizzotti are destined to be elected to the Midville Dodgers Hall of Fame.
