Come to Resurrection-Ascension Church for Mass some weekend. We have a marvelous musical team in Emanuel Bologna, our organist, and in, Leslie Swanson, our Cantor (leader of song) whose solo work, whether with her beautiful singing voice or with her equally beautiful oboe playing, creates golden moments for the congregation.

Mr. Bologna has been the Director of Music at R/A for twelve years, and a member of the Music Commission of our Diocese from 1986 to 1997. He has studied with well-known organists in New York and San Francisco, has a degree in Music from CUNY a professional diploma in Sacred Music from the New York School of Liturgical Music, and gives workshops on liturgy preparation and Cantor training for the diocese.

If you've been to Diocesan “events” at Douglaston, then, you've undoubtedly heard Emanuel at the organ, providing lovely and, when appropriate to the occasion, innovative music. And watch for the announcement of his upcoming recital this summer at St. Patrick's Cathedral, featuring Baroque and Romantic works.

Since Ms. Swanson is Cantor for major diocesan activities, and is Associate Cantor and soloist at St. James Cathedral, Brooklyn, you've probably heard her, also. She has given many recitals in the New York/New Jersey area. In addition, Leslie is the founder, administrator, and arranger for the “Renaissance Woodwind Quintet”. The quintet plays at many Diocesan events, and will be performing a Pentecost Concert at St. James Cathedral on, May 31, 1998 at 4 PM. As an oboist, Leslie is pursuing graduate studies at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.

We are fortunate in having these talented artists in our community. You can hear them at every weekend Mass (except the 7:30 AM) at Resurrection Ascension Church in Rego Park. Your soul will be filled with “the goodness of the Lord” and your ears and heart as wel1.
