You may have read an article in QNS that claimed that St. Saviour’s Church, currently in storage, was a “rotting relic” but a recent visit to the site confirms that is false, and the Landmarks Conservancy is currently drawing up an estimate of how much reconstruction would cost. The project, proposed many years ago, seeks to rebuild the historic structure and repurpose it as a community center.
There was a recent article in the Queens Chronicle that detailed a Soltage proposal to construct a battery farm at All Faiths Cemetery, and that the cemetery reached out to former Council Member Robert Holden for approval, but ultimately decided that it was cost prohibitive “at this time.” A line from the article states, “If the proposal does end up moving forward…Soltage would like to assist with the church’s possible reconstruction, but doing so would not be in the budget if the plan goes nowhere.”
JPCA and Council Member Wong would never agree to this, and will fight every proposal to site a battery farm in proximity to schools and homes. We’ll provide an update in the next Juniper Berry.
