Living up to his reputation as a career politician relying on appointments and back door politics to survive in the complicated 9th Congressional District political world and running poorly in the September 13th Special Election for the seat that disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner held in the 9th CD, David Weprin canceled his debate scheduled for August 29th at 7:30pm in Middle Village against his opponent, Republican, Robert Turner.

The debate was to be hosted by the JPCA and the Times Newsweekly Newspaper, the largest weekly newspaper in western Queens.

The neighborhoods of Middle Village, Maspeth, Glendale and Ridgewood are being told by Weprin, “get lost, I owe you nothing but a smile and a handshake for the cameras,” said Robert Holden, president of the JPCA.

Weprin canceled with weak excuses of pre-arranged dates conflicting with August 29th despite the fact that he knew about the Debate for over a month and his staff was fully aware of the event.

The neighborhoods of Middle Village, Maspeth, Glendale and Ridgewood have become used to having compromised, totally mediocre elected officials whose only job is to “show up.” They keep being re-elected by an electorate that has become weary and unfortunately too comfortable with skeletal political representation from their elected officials. Several have already ended up flirting with jail time, or plea dealing out of disgraceful situations that they themselves have created, Anthony Weiner being our latest “casualty.”
