All four pedestrian ramps on the Grand Ave.-LIE Bridge are in bad shape. Broken cement and uneven surfaces are a tripping hazard and people with motorized wheelchairs find it impossible to navigate safely. Dating back three years, 311 calls were ignored by DOT and Councilman Holden and Wong’s staff have been unable to even get a response from them.
On the other hand, DOT is replacing undamaged curb cuts all around the neighborhood because it lacks the red surface for the visibly disabled and digging up the street to add audio signals.
Repeated attempts to have the 84 St. Pedestrian Overpass cleaned up proved fruitless until Assemblyman Raga’s office was called; thanks to Ella.
And the Graffiti Avengers struck again!
