Partnership for Parks' semi-annual “It's My Park! Day” event in May and October brings thousands of volunteers to over 150 sites in all five boroughs. Projects and events are organized by local community groups, corporate partners, or Parks and City Parks Foundation staff.
It's My Park! Day was held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Juniper Valley Park.
Kids got involved in planting, painting, restoration, and clean up projects and enjoyed free events at Juniper Valley Park.
The Juniper Juniors, under the direction of JPCA Executive Board Member Robert Doocey, cleaned up the area around the Pullis Farm Cemetery and planted spring bulbs.
Captain Rico Albacarys, NYC Parks Enforcement Patrol Supervisor, stopped by to check on the kids and see if anything else was needed.
JPCA Executive Board Member and NY State Assembly Candidate Tony Nunziato stopped by to distribute candy to the kids.
The participants are 7th graders at Resurrection Ascension School (one is a student at IS119).
Thank you to the Juniper Juniors and the many adult volunteers who sacrificed part of their weekend to help beautify our wonderful neighborhood park. The fruits of their labor will be fully realized next Spring.
