Here are some scenes from the last Juniper Park Civic Association General Membership Meeting held on Thursday, October 25th at 7:45pm at Our Lady of Hope Auditorium:

JPCA 2006 Man of the Year Councilman Tony Avella, Chair of the City Council's Zoning Subcommittee, speaks about a mandatory tree planting zoning amendment that may hurt homeowners. The bill does nothing to protect older trees on private property, such as those at St. Saviour's.

Councilman Joseph Addabbo, member of the City Council's Parks Committee, speaks about importance of keeping the Ridgewood Reservoir in its present natural state and not replacing it with concrete and synthetic turf athletic fields.

Dan Austin, Sr., President of Lutheran-All Faiths Cemetery, speaks about the difficulties he has had getting the city to assist the cemetery with sidewalk repair. He also spoke about a new 5,000 unit mausoleum opening soon at the cemetery.

James Roberts of the Department of Environmental Protection gave a presentation about the city's sewer system to more than 300 in attendance.

He then took questions from an orderly but somewhat hostile host of flooding victims. FEMA and DEP reps took down the information of attendees who were affected by this summer's flooding during and after the meeting.

Councilman David Weprin, Chair of the City Council's Finance Committee, discusses his alternative plan to the mayor's congestion pricing plan that would charge cars $8 to enter Manhattan. Weprin's plan calls for tighter enforcement of existing traffic laws, among other things.

JPCA VP Lorraine Sciulli announced the proposed slate of officers for the next 2-year term of 2008-2010.

The next JPCA meeting will be our annual holiday party and raffle on Thursday, December 13th at 7:45pm at Our Lady of Hope Auditorium.
