Hundreds of kids and adults took part in a fun night of free entertainment featuring country & classic rock music, prizes, games and contests on Halloween night 2006 from 4:30-8:30pm at Juniper Valley Park. The evening was sponsored by: Juniper Park Civic Association, Juniper Juniors, NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, Senator Serphin R. Maltese and Commerce Bank.

The first event was the costume contest. There were 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners in each of the following age categories: under 5, 6 to 10, and 10 & above. [Please call (718) 651-5865 if you were a winner but did not pick up your prize.]

Mary Lamont Country Music Band started off the music portion of the program. They performed upbeat original tunes plus contemporary and traditional country covers. Mary's energy level was infectious! For more info about the Mary Lamont Band, visit their website at www.marylamont.com.

Next up was the classic rock band, “Generations.” They played hits of the 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's. Generations has a local connection, with Middle Village native Lenny Musso on guitar and vocals. The band's influences were evident playing songs from such greats as The Doobie Brothers, Led Zeppelin, Police, The Beatles, Paul McCartney, The Doors, Billy Joel, Van Halen, Jeff Beck, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Marshall Tucker.

The NYC Department of Parks & Recreation supplied Mobile Units complete with child & adult skates, safety equipment, helmets, playground chalk, potato sacks, jump ropes, footballs, double dutch ropes, hula hoops, game center, frisbees and face painting.

Thank you to Pioneer Supermarket for donating treats for the kids and to all of our co-sponsors, volunteers and attendees for making this a night to remember, and hopefully a new annual Juniper Park tradition.

JPCA was proud to co-sponsor this event and we look forward to sponsoring many more community and park events in the future.
