Peter Scully, a newly settled area resident, spent his lunch breaks at Juniper Park this past summer and fall. He documented the many birds he saw around noon every weekday, and compiled a very impressive list of species. As winter approached, Mr. Scully thought the small triangle between the upper ball fields, which are closed for the season for reseeding, would make a good refuge for the birds that decide to stay at or pass through Juniper Park. This winter is expected to be particularly rough and a source of food may not always be accessible to them. Peter contacted JPCA with his bird feeding idea. Our Parks Committee Chair, Steve Fiedler, helped him to install his donated cylindrical birdfeeder and thistle seed bag. Steve will make sure they are regularly filled with seed as he goes about his daily park maintenance routine.
Thank you, Peter, for your generous donation and welcome to the neighborhood!
