Not a work of art
These businesses at the corner of 58 Street and the Long Island Expressway have been gone for many years, making the empty storefronts attractive to vandals. We’ve had reports of squatters in the past, and the structure is constantly covered in graffiti. Please notify our council member’s office when you see properties in poor condition so they can dispatch crews to clean the mess.

Clear the catch basins
Catch basins need to be kept free of debris to prevent flooding and all too often we find them in this condition. If you see a catch basin that needs to be cleaned, please report it via 311. If you can clean it yourself, even better. The little bit of effort may just prevent a flood in your basement.

Mess of a Message
This railroad overpass on Calamus Avenue is frequently the target of graffiti vandals, as is every other underpass in the area. There’s also dumping in this location. We hope to see a cleanup of this location shortly. The DOT and CSX are supposed to keep the area tidy, but unfortunately, it often falls on volunteers to pick up their slack.
