IBX Stop by Stop: Maspeth has small-town charm in America’s most crowded city

www.amny.com

The planned IBX train will likely have a stop in Maspeth in Queens, a town that is home to neighborhood stores, patriotic memorials and more.

I read this article. Headline reads “stop by stop”. They mentioned Roosevelt Avenue and Grand Avenue. That’s it. Where are the rest ??? I’ve heard possibly Elliot by Our Lady of Hope. Where else ??? Fresh Pond and Metro ??? It’s a steep trip down the tracks from these locations. I know. I used to hang out down the tracks as a teenager. We must demand the details, along with NYC’s plans to rezone this neighborhood to have apartment buildings. “Bring back the “2 fare Zone” neighborhood. Bumper stickers a T-shirts should be issued.

The outskirts of Maspeth.🤣 Maspeth will have 2 stations on the outskirts. 74th and Eliot is Maspeth but Middle Village is both sides of Eliot ave

Elmhurst park on grand is still aka Maspeth* boarders the neighborhood. Maybe not effecting too much homes but still the station would change the neighborhood.

Actually I was told it would be on Lutheran Drive and be called “Juniper Park”. I called Addabbo’s office

Isn't the area north of Elliot Ave considered Maspeth? If the train stop will be on Elliot, it's servicing parts of Maspeth.

Once approved how many years before there is a “ finished product”?

From Astoria to Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Forest Hills; These articles that exclaim “small-town charm”, ALWAYS precede rampant overdevelopment.

Small town feel??? Maybe 60 years ago.

Time to move

INTERBORO GRANIMAL EXPRESS

I’ll be moving if any of this happens! I’ll fight but I’m done if this goes on. I was born and raised here, grandparents bought there home in 1903!

Let’s hope not.

They should leave our neighborhoods alone. We live here because we are happy with the way things are. This project will ruin everything!

Sad bc some of us are kinda not in the position to just leave but they are ruining our beloved history and neighborhoods!

This must be stopped. Only one reason for this block busting by big developers. More money in politicians pockets

The WORST possible place for a train station! If the MTA and our stinking corrupt politicians deliberately planned to ruin a neighborhood they could not have done a more complete disgusting job of it!

Those stops still borders Maspeth and no good in MV

Let's be honest there will be two winners from this ibx thing and they are real estate developers and corrupt politicians. Tell me why would anyone pay $70 millions for Atlas Terminal. That's is real estate development in Glendale, right next to MidVille.

Omg what a f*king disaster!! Kiss JVP goodbye

What is the benefits of this ? None !! stop bringing in people Kennedy started busing in children for school and look at that now Buses everywhere it’s a trfc disaster And children in their own neighborhoods can’t get into schools bc outter neighborhoods fill em

Per Gov. Hochuls press release: [IBX] will create 19 stations and connect with 17 different subway lines — A, C, E, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 5, 7, B, D, F, M, J, Z and L trains — 50 bus routes and two LIRR stations.

It will stop at Atlantic Avenue LIRR. What other LIRR station will it stop at? Woodside? Nope. See below. They are 8 blocks apart. So which one then, Kathy?

Kathy’s gotta go!

So I am wondering.. is this supposed to run on the same tracks that currently carry freight? If so, how will the freight lines deal?

It shall become the IBX Muggers Delight.

Who would use the IBX to transfer to LIRR at Woodside? The bus to the subway is more efficient or even an express bus.

We must demand a detailed map of train route, along with proposed train stations which include exact locations.

FIX the existing system before building something new!!

Another stupid proposal. Boo

She is just a jerk.

This is not going to happen. It makes absolutely no sense.

MTA claims the IBX will connect to “up to 17” train lines, but as we already mentioned, that’s not happening in Jackson Heights. It’s also not happening at the proposed Atlantic Avenue station. The A C J Z lines stop at Broadway Junction, not Atlantic Avenue. Only the LIRR and L trains stop at Atlantic Avenue, and it would require a 1/4 mile walk to transfer to the others because MTA determined that building a platform nearer to Broadway Junction would be “too expensive.” If the IBX was such a transformative, amazing, once-in-a-century project, MTA wouldn’t feel the need to lie about it.

I'll play devils advocate; 5 blocks is nothing. As an example, the metronorth station for Yankees stadium is approx 14 blocks from the stadium.

Before considering any new measures, we should prioritize conducting a comprehensive audit of the MTA. I am confident that such a review will uncover significant inefficiencies and wasteful spending. Moreover, given the size and complexity of the organization, there is also a strong possibility of identifying instances of mismanagement or even fraudulent practices such as inflated contractor billing, misuse of overtime, or improper allocation of funds that should be addressed before any additional funding is considered.

The MTA is New York Cities biggest Mob..

They're within walking distance.

Another reason this is unfeasible. Use this against them. Fight Fight FIGHT!

Why can't they reopen the LIRR connection that they closed at Fresh Pond Road and Metropolitan Avenue.

They claim a lot to get it to pass.

This is crazy Hochul’s idea. She knows very little about this city yet wants to stick her nose where it is not needed or wanted. A big waste of money which profits mainly foreign investors.

The MTA only cares about ripping off the citizens. They are not about what the co.munity tni is would help the people. THEY ONLY VARE ABOUT WASTING TAX PAYOR DOLLARS. How about setting up shuttle VANS, between connection before you re amo the system. Leave it alone. Take away those stupid cones on : Caldwell Avenue/ Elliot by Harry's. Takes up space and we never had problems with that walkway. Keep putting in pay parking to...threes small business have survived er 50 years and the city has to screw with some free parking. Get your hair done in under 2 Hours. Another reason, among others to leave. Im Too old forth is bs.

Time to start tracking the land/homes/whatever currently being bought and sold in the path. I’m serious. Way, way too much money is involved I’m certain of it. Bad Money got that nightmare crap pile city of yes passed. I’m getting tons of calls from non native speakers from corporations to buy my house. That’s normal on my land line lots of scammers call it’s the original 1930s phone number to the house. They are constantly calling my cell now, not associated with the house information and they know my name! I only have my cell in 3 places attached to the house. I tell them 3 million cash!
