NYPD Priorities? On the morning of January 10 at approximately 8:30 we observed a NYPD highway patrol officer conducting one of many checkpoints flagging down motorists on the westbound exit ramp of the LIE. He was ticketing drivers for seat belt infractions. Less than 100 feet away motorists and city bus drivers routinely ignore the pedestrian crosswalk and fail to yield to pedestrians. Many have reported having close encounters with the express buses who ignore the posted “yield to pedestrian signs.”
