It was announced in November that the 109th Precinct, due to its size, will be getting a satellite precinct at the police academy in College Point to service areas that are far from the stationhouse in downtown Flushing. In addition, the 105th Precinct has been split into two, with a new 116th Precinct having opened in southeastern Queens. JPCA and other local groups have long asked for the 104th Precinct to either be split into two or allowed to have a satellite stationhouse due to the time it takes for cars to travel from Ridgewood to the borders of Woodside and Elmhurst.
