Well, despite the prediction of the Farmer’s Almanac that we would get walloped with cold air and layer upon layer of snow, it turned out that this winter wasn’t bad at all. We’re on the other side of it now and will soon see leaves on the trees and flowers in bloom. One great addition to our neighborhood this past winter was the Queens Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Elmhurst Park. My brother Aniello’s name is listed as one of the fallen. This monument helps assure that none of those who served and died in Vietnam will ever be forgotten. One of the freedoms we have thanks to our veterans is the right to vote. So please exercise that right on March 24 and participate in the special election for Queens Borough President. We’ll have a candidates’ night at the next civic meeting on March 19 where you’ll hear directly from those running about their positions on issues of concern.
