A farmhouse at Maspeth, L.I., 150 years old, owned by Thomas J. Bates, was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon. The contents of the house were consumed. They included a large number of relics of colonial and revolutionary days. A black walnut chair with leather upholstering and a china teapot, which were brought over in the Mayflower, were among the articles lost.
