I had the opportunity recently to talk to Dr. James Gaudio, Optometrist at Sharp Vision. Dr. Gaudio works with his brother, Stephen Gaudio who is the Optician at Sharp Vision. The two brothers have been in business together for about twenty years.

Dr. Gaudio stated that Sharp Vision started out in Brooklyn twenty years ago. They have their Maspeth location for eighteen years and their Middle Village office for three years.

Dr. Gaudio explained the range of services that they provide at Sharp Vision. He stated that in addition to the routine eye examination and prescription that everyone is familiar with, including contact lenses and bifocals, Sharp co-manages cataract and lasik surgery. Also they diagnose and treat glaucoma and ocular disease.

Sharp Vision is connected to NY Eye & Ear Infirmary, which is in Manhattan on 2nd Avenue, corner of 14th Street. Dr. Gaudio said that in the event of an eye emergency Sharp’s patients would be referred to this hospital with the thought of getting quick emergency care that wouldn’t be available at a local hospital.

Dr. Gaudio explained how their work schedule is divided between their two locations in the Middle Village and Maspeth areas, both locations having hours of operation so the neighborhood is assured of good eye care throughout the week. Dr. Gaudio stated that he is in the Maspeth office for examinations on Tuesday and Thursday between the hours 10am to 7pm and in Middle Village on Wednesday and Friday with hours from 10am to 7pm. They have hours on Saturday but by appointment only. If you want to get in touch with them simply call one of their offices Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 7pm. Sharp Vision accepts all insurance plans.

On the community level, Dr. Gaudio stated that Sharp is a member of the Middle Village Chamber of Commerce. One gets the sense of the very real responsibility to our community and eye care that these two brothers bring to the marketplace. You can see by James and Stephen Gaudio’s hours of operation that they are readily available to provide the vital service of precision eye care in Middle Village, Maspeth and beyond.

The JPCA is always anxious to recommend our local businesses to our many member families. The next time you need that eye examination keep in mind Sharp Vision with their two convenient local offices in Middle Village and Maspeth. Call them and tell them that you read about them in the Juniper Berry. We assure you that you will get the best of care and attention because Dr. James and his brother, Stephen, are total professionals and as they state in their ads, “You don’t have to look far to see clearly!”
