Longtime Maspeth community volunteer and activist and United States Army WW II Veteran John Kempisty passed away on Thursday, May 16 at the age of 98. He was predeceased by his loving wife and fellow activist and veteran, Ruth Kempisty, He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John’s philosophy was: “Go to meetings and there you can voice your opinion.” He belonged to COMET, United States Veterans and Fraternal Organizations of Maspeth, Kowalinski Post #4, Parks Committee of Queens Community Board 5, Maspeth Anti-Crime Task Force, Juniper Park Civic Association and numerous others. Services were offered at Kodis Funeral Home with interment at St. John Cemetery. In tribute, donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
