On Sunday, March 3rd at about 1:15pm, 18-year old Steven Rodriguez of Brooklyn struck another vehicle driven by Sal Giordano of Glendale at Woodhaven Boulevard and Union Turnpike. Both Giordano and his 13-year old nephew, a passenger in the vehicle, were injured but not seriously. Rodriguez, driving a blue minivan, sped off going westbound eventually turning onto Myrtle Ave. Apparently trying to turn onto 82nd Street, Rodriguez lost control of the van and slammed into a corner building severely damaging the front of the house. In a strange stroke of luck, at that moment Sal Giordano was on the phone with his sister, Enza, the mother of Sal’s nephew and passenger. She just happens to live directly across the street from where Rodriguez rammed his minivan through the front door on 82nd St. Sal described the van to Enza who then notified the police.
Rodriguez, who had no prior arrests, was arrested for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and reckless endangerment.
