It’s no secret that the public transportation serving our area is severely lacking. Most bus lines stop running overnight, with the exception of the Q58, Q39 and Q54. There is no service on 69th Street or Eliot Avenue at all. There also are no bus schedules at most of the stops to let people know when to expect a bus. We would like our area’s neighbors and visitors to have safe trips when commuting during off hours. Not everyone in the area has a 9-5 job, and the MTA and our elected officials should see that service is expanded to meet the needs of our communities.
It should also be noted that if you are traveling by bus after 10pm anywhere in the city, you may request a non-official stop along the route closer to your destination, and the driver is authorized to discharge you so long as he or she deems it safe to do so.
