Abbracciamento’s closed in early March, but the businesses adjacent to it stayed in operation for a few months longer. Now the entire strip is empty and awaiting demolition. There are plans to erect a 119-unit apartment building on the site. The Queens Chronicle reported the following this past July 31: “While work permits have not been granted yet because of missing paperwork, according to DOB spokesman Alex Schnell, a Criterion official, who remained anonymous, said Monday the company expects demolition to begin within the next two months, with the completion of the apartment building about two years away.”
