In the last issue of the Juniper Berry, we brought you the story of the Maher Family, who had been vacated from their Maspeth home in October after a partial collapse of the house’s foundation. They had been living in a hotel because State Farm refused to honor their claim and they did not have the money to start repairs. We are happy to report that Eyewitness News’ “7 on Your Side” reporter Nina Pineda got involved and asked the insurance company to reconsider their denial. State Farm has now paid the Mahers more than $232,000, repairs have begun, and they should soon be back in their home.
