In the Sept/Oct 2014 issue of the Juniper Berry we warned residents that this practice of blocking the sidewalk with a car is both dangerous and illegal. With the snow and ice of the winter months it’s even more dangerous. We also warned that the 104th Precinct had promised to crackdown on this practice. Several residents have received $115 summonses for the violation and are now complaining. It’s also amazing how homeowners have their garages filled with junk while their cars sit parked on the streets or blocking the sidewalk.
More and more we’ve seen a very disturbing trend of parking cars in front of stoops & home entrances (above). This is also illegal and dangerous in the case of fire or medical emergencies. The Dept of Buildings and NYPD will enforce this violation.
