Good work by Assemblyman Miller, for requesting funding for a sound and vibration study that addresses noise pollution and damage from freight train operations! CURES has been calling for a scientific noise and vibration engineering study and recommendations for mitigations by an engineering firm experienced in rail noise abatement (CURES suggested a firm like this one: www.hmmh.com).

When CURES requested that noise and vibration abatement engineering be included in New York & Atlantic Railroad's (NYARR) recent Fresh Pond Terminal/Yards bid that uses state funds, the answer came back, “Paul (Victor) won't pay for that.” Our communities need an independent assessment of noise and vibration that includes adverse impacts on our health, property, and quality of life, and focused mitigations to address them.
