A 23 year old burglar with an arrest record since 1959 was shot and killed early yesterday by police after he reportedly fired two shots at a policeman as he ran from a butcher shop at 84-15 57th Road, Maspeth, Queens, the police reported.
The dead man was identified as Frank Buffamante of 6616 77th Place, Middle Village, Queens, who police said had been arrested six times on charges ranging from forgery to felonious assault.
Four policemen fired nine bullets at Buffamante. When he was found dead in a lot about a block away he had been hit by four shots. The police found $5.55 on his body, which they said he stole from the store.
